In celebration of International Women’s Day, we introduce SALTY BEACHES! Because let’s face it, we have all earned a sunny vacation on the beach sipping something delicious!
Sweetness from pith and juice, rind of the grapefruit and lime pull through, hints of star anise Light head that doesn’t linger, hazy gold in colour, high carbonation on this one. With smaller sips, there are more bitter notes, larger sips seem to encourage a sweeter flavour. This exciting brew keeps you wanting more!
Fun Fact: On 19 March 1911, the first International Women’s Day was held, with more than 1 million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland taking part. It took until 1975 for the United Nations to recognize and begin celebrating International Women’s Day.
Bring Your Own Sunshine
This brew was created in support of Pink Boots Canada. They are here to ASSIST, INSPIRE, & ENCOURAGE women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry through EDUCATION.
We started this collaboration brew by hosting a hop rub event for women and non-binary individuals in the fermented beverage industry: winemakers, cider makers, distillers, kombucha makers, home brewers, micro brewers, etc. At the event, the Pink Boots hop blend was discussed and selected.
Using the Yakima hops Pink Boots blend, we knew we had to brew up something wonderful! Cue the tequila. Inspired by a citrusy paloma, we decided to brew a Grapefruit Agave Wheat Ale. We invited women and non-binary individuals in the fermented beverage industry to join us for the brew day. We peeled and juiced grapefruits and limes, stirred the mash, and created a flavor tincture for the beer using Agave Tequila and the zest from the grapefruit and limes. It was a fun-filled day of brewing, learning more about the industry, learning more about each other, and celebrating such an awesome cause.
What’s a Wheat Ale?
Subtle notes of wheat and bread are complemented by notes of lemon rind and citrus. It’s zippy and refreshing but with a creamy mouthfeel that’s deceptively fuller-bodied than its appearance.
