Founded in the heart of Alberta’s malt barley country, Troubled Monk began its journey in 2015 as a small brewery with a big vision: to create exceptional craft beer that brought people together. What started with a few fermenters and a love for brewing has since evolved into a full craft beverage company producing not only award-winning beers, but also World Class Whisky, spirits, sodas, and one of Alberta’s best-selling hard iced teas.Our craft is rooted in quality and community. We source the best ingredients possible, many grown right here in Alberta and pair them with creativity, innovation, and a relentless attention to detail. From classic styles to bold new recipes, every Troubled Monk beverage is made to captivate and connect.

The Story of the monk
A monk sits, furiously scratching away at his parchment.
It is near dawn and his candles have burnt down to near nothing. Still, he cannot rest until he’s finished.
He won’t rest.
Open jars of grains surround him, some spilled next to his parchment.
He runs his hands through them before bringing them to his nose.
He smiles as he lifts his parchment into the light. After countless experiments, this is it. The perfect recipe.
A beer fine enough to share. This Monk isn’t your typical devotee.
He has an unmatched passion for his craft and the will to go anywhere to find the right ingredients.
And tonight, his devotion to his craft has paid off.
